Barrier by licence plate: number plate recognition

Qazparking opens a barrier, gate or bollard by licence plate. The plate is read by a camera — the system does not care which vendor made it — and the command reaches the device in under a second.

Where the plate comes from

  • Dahua and Hikvision ANPR cameras.
  • Third-party plate recognition software.
  • External systems via API.
  • Different vendors on one site at the same time.

Your camera or controller is not listed? Send us the protocol or API and we will add it in the next release.

How the system controls the barrier

  • Modbus TCP — relays and controllers.
  • HTTP / API — including manual and remote device triggering via a tokenised link.
  • Camera dry contacts.
  • Traffic lights and LED signs — for barrier-free mode.
  • Anti-passback, separate entry and exit logic, timings and “always open” mode.
  • Barriers, gates, bollards, turnstiles, traffic lights and signs.

Day and night

At night the cameras work in IR mode and plates are read just as in daytime. At a live site in Almaty the recognition confidence of the Hikvision cameras in frame is 98–99%. Accuracy depends on the camera, its position and lighting, so we agree the installation layout before mounting.

If a plate is not recognised

Every event is stored with a snapshot, time and the system’s decision. If a plate is not read — dirt, snow, a non-standard frame — the guard or administrator opens the gate with one button in the panel or from a phone, and the frame stays in the log for review.

Your data stays with you

In the on-premise edition the system runs on a server or mini PC on site (the minimum node is a Raspberry Pi), and data is not sent to external services without the customer’s consent.

Commissioning without a week at the barrier

The site is assembled in an emulator: the camera, payment, Modbus TCP and HTTP are emulated and the tariff is run through real scenarios. One site visit — just to connect.

Pricing

Cloud edition — 33,000 ₸ per channel (one camera at an entry or exit) per month. On-premise edition (site licence, data on your server) — by number of channels: access control from 450,000 ₸ (up to 2 channels) to 1,100,000 ₸ (unlimited), paid parking from 880,000 ₸ to 1,900,000 ₸; upgrading from access control to paid parking costs the difference. Hardware and installation — turnkey or through an integrator partner, priced per site.

Launch — 3–7 days after payment, provided the cameras and barrier on site are ready.

Frequently asked questions

Which cameras are supported?

Dahua and Hikvision ANPR cameras, third-party recognition software and external systems via API. If a camera cannot read plates itself, we will select an ANPR camera together with an integrator partner.

How accurate is plate recognition?

At a live site in Almaty the recognition confidence of the Hikvision cameras in frame is 98–99%. Accuracy depends on the camera, its position and lighting.

Does recognition work at night?

Yes, the cameras work in IR mode and read plates at night.

Can we connect an existing barrier?

Yes. Commands are sent via Modbus TCP, HTTP or the camera’s dry contact — enough for most barriers, gates and bollards.

What if a plate is not recognised?

The gate is opened manually with one button in the panel or from a phone, and the event with the snapshot stays in the log.
